World Soil Spectral Service
Inform
Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to WorldSpecS! The most innovative work in the world!
I hope this finds you well. My name is José Alexandre Demattê, professor at the Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture University of São Paulo Brazil. I have worked for the last 30 years in soil spectroscopy. In the last few years, I have tried to make this significant technique function for Society. The first step was achieved, with the construction of many spectral libraries and many researchers working on it. On the Other hand, it still has new Steps to reach an end user. Trying this, we created the Brazilian Soil Spectral Library (BSSL, https://doi.org/10.1016/j.geoderma.2019.05.043). But an SSL is static, and does not reach its purpose, so we went further and created the Brazilian Soil Spectral Service (Braspecs, https://doi.org/10.3390/rs14030740). The main purpose is to let the user reach the soil analysis and learn how its useful. This is an online system and data are not available. The user only can upload his spectra and receive the result. Its one of the possibilities to use spectral libraries.
Said this, we aim to go further and are constructing a Global Project denominated the World Soil Spectral Service (Worldspecs). To reach the goal, we need the maximum of data possible. Open access is a possibility, but personal data are for sure important ones. As we observed, seems you may have data regarding this subject. We would kindly ask if you could disclose ONLY for our group and for this initiative, to make it possible.
As we receive data, you will be part of the initiative and a simple document will be generated, if you desire. A site will be constructed indicating all contributors. After everything is finished, we will prepare a paper with all contributors. The system will remain online. You can see an example of what is already working for Brazil, go to
besbbr.com.br OR http://143.107.213.227/layout/_en/index.php
and look what it will look like.
The work will use VNIR and/or MIR spectral ranges.
We have the support of FAO Glosolan-Specs and Sao Paulo University Brazil. We do not want your data for own use, we want to construct something together where you will also gain, with security for your dataset.
SEE ALL THE DOCUMENTATION ATTACHED IN THE HEADING OF THIS TEXTI Click in I want to participate to download documents and instructions.
PLEASE FEEL FREE FOR ANY QUESTIONS.

I thank you for your attention and hope we can work together!
Sincerely
Jose Demattê
