Post-Doctoral Fellowship opportunity in Soil Science 2026
Topic: Spatial assessment of soil quality in Brazil, focusing on the development of national Soil Quality Index (SQI) maps at multiple depths and their relationships with land use, climate, and potential soybean productivity;
Location: Luiz de Queiroz College of Agriculture (ESALQ/USP), Department of Soil Science, GeoCiS – Geotechnologies in Soil Science Research Group, Piracicaba, São Paulo, Brazil;
Dedication: Full-time, exclusive commitment (40 hours per week);
Funding: FAPESP 2021/05129-8;
Duration: 12 months (February 2026 to March 2027);
Requirements: PhD in Soil Science, Remote Sensing, Environmental Sciences, Geosciences or related fields; proven experience in pedometrics, VNIR/MIR spectroscopy, remote sensing applied to soils, GIS, predictive modeling, machine learning, and spatial statistics;
Skills: Proficiency in R and Python, knowledge of JavaScript in the GEE environment, geoprocessing (PostGIS, QGIS Web), environmental data integration, and scientific writing in English;
Documentation: Curriculum Vitae (Lattes format required for Brazilian applicants), PhD diploma or defense statement, two recommendation letters sent directly by the referees, and a cover letter;
